The VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) and the University of Washington (UW), Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, are recruiting a Physiatrist for Rehabilitation Care Services. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary musculoskeletal program at VAPSCHS, in collaboration with clinicians from other departments and a highly skilled rehabilitation staff, improving care and access to services both locally and regionally. In addition to these qualifications, expertise in clinical evaluation and the provision of a broad range of spine intervention procedures will be desired.
An Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor full-time (non-tenure), in the Clinician/Educator track will be offered, commensurate with experience. The clinician-educator pathway requires a strong interest and experience in the education of fellows, residents, and medical students, leading didactic courses and publishing scholarly works such as review articles/book chapters.
The qualified candidate is a PM&R physician with an MD or DO, who has completed residency training in an accredited program and has completed Board Certification by the American Board of PM&R or is eligible for Board Certification. If Board eligible, Board Certification is required at the earliest available time after meeting the necessary board requirements. Additional sub specialty board certification in pain medicine and/or sports medicine is highly desired.
This position requires an expert level of knowledge and skills in the evaluation and management of Spine and Musculoskeletal conditions. Completion of advanced fellowship training is highly desired. In addition, the ideal candidate will have accrued significant procedural experience post fellowship and will be skilled in musculoskeletal ultrasound.

U.S. Citizenship
Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required in ANY U.S. State.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal or Family Medicine.

Federal Retirement Plan:
VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan
The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution
