Role Summary:
The Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) will play a critical leadership role in shaping the financial strategy of Mutual of America Financial Group. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance analysis, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals. The VP of FP&A will lead a team of finance professionals and collaborate with senior management to provide actionable insights, drive financial performance, and improve business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
The salary range below describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this role. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, whereby total compensation may exceed this range depending on individual and / or company performance.
Base Salary Range:
$156,000 - $234,000

This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance analysis, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals. The VP of FP&A will lead a team of finance professionals and collaborate with senior management to provide actionable insights, drive financial performance, and improve business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the company's financial planning and analysis functions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational goals.
- Partner with executive leadership to develop short- and long-term financial strategies.
- Oversee the budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of reports and recommendations.
- Provide insights and recommendations to drive business growth, cost optimization, and profitability.
- Evaluate financial performance against budget and forecast and lead strategic initiatives to improve financial outcomes.
- Lead the preparation of consolidated financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Conduct variance analysis, identify key trends, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Oversee the development of financial KPIs and metrics, and ensure reporting is aligned with strategic priorities.
- Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of financial reporting tools and systems.
- Collaborate with senior management across various departments to ensure accurate financial data and operational performance.
- Provide strategic guidance to department heads on budgeting and forecasting.
- Work with investment teams to analyze financial implications of investment strategies and portfolio performance.
- Engage with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing FP&A team, ensuring ongoing professional development and career growth.
- Foster a collaborative and transparent environment, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
- Review team outputs to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with company goals.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the FP&A processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Leverage technology and financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle Planning, QLIK, etc.) to streamline reporting and analytics.
- Ensure effective integration of financial data across all systems and platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, including significant experience at a senior level in a large, complex organization (preferably within the financial services, insurance, or investment sectors).
- Proven experience in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Strong technical aptitude with proficiency in financial systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar platforms) and advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex financial data into clear and actionable insights.
- Experience leading teams and managing cross-functional projects.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with executive leadership and external stakeholders.
- Master's degree in business administration (MBA), Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant professional certifications.
- Expertise in financial systems, including Tableau, SQL, or similar data visualization tools.
- Experience in the insurance industry or with investment accounting.
