Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Reads and interprets drawings, specifications, contracts and Requests-for-Proposals.Develops detailed material take-offs for estimate development and procurement of bulk materials.Expected to assist in the preparation of larger and more complex estimating assignments including the Estimate Plan.Responsible for performing all aspects of estimating.Understands construction means, methods, and sequences.Recognizes, understands, and applies estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles for compiling all types of estimates.Recognizes how various processes and assumptions may impact the estimate and quantifies the impact.Knowledgeable in the Hard Dollar estimating system would be helpful.Develops proficiency in the use of the Company estimating systems and processes.Conducts work requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard estimating techniques, procedures, and criteria.Prepares and / or coordinates preparation of full project estimates. Provides complete conceptual and final estimating input.May provide guidance to less experienced estimating personnel.Develops wage rate build-ups.Applies the various elements of Shimmick's cost structure (overheads, G&A, insurance, etc.)Prepares scope and bid package breakdowns for subcontract and vendor quotes.Prepares subcontract bid analysis of scope and price.Develops cash flow schedules and estimates.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationPreferred Qualifications:Previous heavy civil construction experienceExperience in the Water IndustryExperience with Hard Dollar bidding softwareStrong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detailAbility to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leadersWork independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasksHighly organized with excellent time management skillsExcellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skillsAdditional Information:Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.The salary range for this position is between $145,000.00 - 195,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
