Position Summary:
Growing industrial company seeking an experienced Controller with a robust background in job costing to lead our accounting function.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10-15 years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, and a proven track record of working within industrial or manufacturing environments. This role is key in driving financial integrity, managing cost accounting, and overseeing budget control and reporting functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management:

    • Lead financial operations, including month-end and year-end closing processes, budget preparation, and annual audits.
    • Develop and manage financial policies, systems, and controls to ensure accurate reporting and financial integrity.
    • Provide insights and analysis on financial performance, focusing on profit improvement and cost management.
  • Job Costing & Project Analysis:

    • Oversee and refine the job costing process to accurately allocate expenses and monitor cost drivers.
    • Partner with project managers and operations teams to track and analyze project costs and profitability.
    • Drive cost control initiatives by analyzing cost variances and implementing corrective actions.
  • Leadership & Team Development:

    • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting processes and enhance financial reporting.
    • Act as a financial advisor to senior management on critical financial matters and strategic decisions.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee internal controls, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard company assets.
    • Coordinate with external auditors and support audit activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong expertise in job costing, with a solid understanding of cost drivers within industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical mindset with a focus on process improvement.
