Job Title: Patent Prosecution - Patent Agent (Chemistry) - Organic/Medicinal Chemistry Expertise

Location: Washington, DC
Pay: $130,000 - $230,000 + bonus eligibility
Schedule: Hybrid (On-site approximately 60% of the time)

Our client, a leading Am Law 100 firm, offers advanced patent law services for clients in the chemical and life sciences industries. The Washington, DC office is seeking a Patent Agent with a Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry to support its growing IP Prosecution team. This role offers hands-on experience with clients developing innovative technologies and managing complex patent portfolios.

• Draft and file patent applications, manage prosecution, and respond to USPTO actions
• Support clients with freedom-to-operate analyses and IP due diligence

What you need to succeed:

• USPTO admission required
• Ph.D. in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry (or 3+ years post-baccalaureate lab experience)
• At least 2 years of patent prosecution experience
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
