Job Title: Patent Prosecution - Patent Agent (Chemistry) - Organic/Medicinal Chemistry Expertise

Location: San Francisco, CA
Pay: $130,000 - $230,000 + bonus eligibility
Schedule: Hybrid (On-site approximately 60% of the time)

Their San Francisco office seeks a skilled Patent Agent with expertise in organic or medicinal chemistry to support their IP Prosecution team. This role offers an opportunity to work on high-impact patent applications and IP portfolio management for clients in innovative chemical sectors.

• Review scientific literature, patents, and applications across chemistry disciplines
• Draft detailed patent applications and analyze patent rejection responses from the USPTO
• Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses, comparing inventions with existing discoveries
• Work closely with clients to protect and build IP portfolios for cutting-edge chemical technologies

What you need to succeed:

• Admission to the USPTO required
• Ph.D. in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry (or 3+ years post-baccalaureate lab experience)
• Minimum 2 years of patent prosecution experience
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain scientific concepts to varied audiences
