Position Summary

The Cafeteria Attendant is responsible for ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient operation of the cafeteria. The attendant will assist in food service, maintain cleanliness of the dining and serving areas, restock food and supplies, and provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and other guests. The ideal candidate will be attentive, friendly, and committed to maintaining high standards of hygiene and service in a fast-paced environment. Cafeteria attendants work in a school or institutional cafeteria setting, interacting with students, staff, and other guests in a highly visible environment. The role requires frequent standing, walking, and lifting throughout the shift.

This role will pay an hourly wage of $15 to $17. 

For FT roles: Benefits: Health, Dental and Vision insurance, 401(k) savings plan, 401(k) matching, and paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays).

This position will remain open until December 31, 2024.

Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Greet and assist students, staff, and guests, ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Food Service Assistance: Support in cleaning tables and dining areas during meal times, ensuring timely and efficient service. Does side work during non-busy hours.
  • Restocking: Refill and replenish food, utensils, and supplies on serving lines and condiment stations as needed throughout meal periods.
  • Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness in the dining, serving, and kitchen areas, including wiping down tables, cleaning chairs, and ensuring all surfaces are sanitized regularly.
  • Waste Management: Empty trash and recycling bins as needed, ensuring proper disposal of waste materials.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Operate and clean kitchen equipment, including beverage dispensers, microwaves, and dishwashers.
  • Safety and Hygiene: Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
  • Inventory: Assist with inventory control by monitoring food and supply levels, alerting supervisors when items need to be reordered.
  • POS Handling: Operate  registers or point-of-sale systems for meal periods, accurately processing transactions.
  • Catering or Outlets Support: Assist with special events,catering services or Outlets support, ensuring food and supplies are appropriately set up, served, and cleaned up.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the cafeteria manager or supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous experience in food service or customer service is preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and guests.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hygiene & Safety: Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and following all health and safety protocols.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well in a team environment and adapt to varying responsibilities as needed.
  • Language Skills: Basic understanding of English for communication purposes; bilingual skills may be a plus.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work varying shifts, including early mornings, weekends, evenings, nights or holidays, depending on school needs.
