Leidos is seeking a lead systems administrator to support the NASA Langley Research Center's Center Operations Directorate (COD). The role requires ability to lead a team of competent system administrators by applying comprehensive knowledge of concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments. Performs work that requires comprehensive practical experience and training. Responsible for overseeing and performing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating system workstations and servers, including virtual, cloud, as well as web servers, in support of business processing requirements.

Job Description
Leidos is seeking a lead systems administrator to support the NASA Langley Research Center's Center Operations Directorate (COD). Performs work that requires comprehensive practical experience and training. Responsible for overseeing and performing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating system workstations and servers, including virtual, cloud, as well as web servers, in support of business processing requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
- Provide timely response and support during scheduled and authorized non-business hours to ensure continuity of services to the network environment
- Configuring and maintaining the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise
- Replacing and upgrading defective or outdated components when necessary
- System monitoring and maintenance including configuration & security management, patching, automation, hardening and system upgrades
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual operational maintenance, support, and software upgrades for Windows Server, CentOS servers, and Windows 10 workstations
- Manage multiple servers comprising multiple virtual machines (VMs) using VMware's ESXi hypervisor, vSphere client VM manager, and vCenter system manager
- Performs complex software installations and upgrades to the operating systems, system services, application support packages, and application programs for Windows, Linux, and other software product deliverables
- Ensure system and application data recoverability by maintaining a schedule of system backups, database archives, and restoration operations
- Requires deep understanding of system administration principals
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, Engineering or related field with 8-10 years of experience working in cloud infrastructure operations; or equivalent experience
- Ability to obtain a NASA Public Trust clearance
- Creativity to imagine innovative, effective new solutions and designs.
- Apply sound logic and reasoning against troubleshooting difficult issues.
- Must be able to develop solutions to problems, as well as manage multiple issues at the same time.
- Understanding and appropriately responding to feedback is an important aspect of this position.
- Both oral and written communication skills are vital to relaying important information, training new staff members, and communicating about solutions to complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of infrastructure operations experience across multiple disciplines (OS, hypervisor, storage) with competent understanding of hybrid cloud service operations
- Advanced understanding of ITSM processes and experience with agile methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, SAFe using technologies like Jira or ServiceNow
- Advanced understanding of DevSecOps concepts and Site Reliability Engineering

- Azure Administrator certification
