Photostability of ADC Drug Products Overview

Our Biologics Formulation Development team focuses on addressing unique challenges in drug product development. One of such challenges is the photostability of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Certain ADCs exhibit high sensitivity to light due to unique physicochemical properties of the drug-linker as well as the antibody, which may lead to photostability challenges during manufacturing and administration. This internship will provide an opportunity to develop formulation strategies to mitigate light-induced degradation in ADC drug products.
This internship will be based in North Chicago, IL.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and execute formulation development and predictive stability studies.
- Analytical characterization of formulations using a variety of methods, including but not limited to electrophoresis, liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry.
- Utilize and improve predictive models for light-induced degradation during manufacturing and administration.
- Utilize in silico modeling to study the interplay of excipient properties and antibody sequence and structure as it relates to light-induced degradation.
- Summarize findings and present them to cross-functional teams and line management.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other related disciplines with relevant graduate research experience.
- Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expected graduation date between December 2025 - June 2026.
- Hands-on experience with pharmaceutical formulations, protein chemistry and relevant analytical characterization methods.
- Familiarity with the fundamentals of photochemistry and/or in silico modeling tools is a plus.
