Agency Overview: The Safe Center LI, Inc. (TSCLI) is the leading provider of services to victims of interpersonal violence in Nassau County. The agency provides comprehensive services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking, and elder abuse. The Safe Center is a thought leader that seeks to develop and implement innovative interventions to meet the multifaceted needs of victims and survivors.

SUMMARY: The Development/Special Events Intern will provide support to the Development Department with tasks including; administrative duties, marketing, special events and outreach to third parties. The Development/Special Events Intern will work cooperatively with other members of the Development team to fulfill the fundraising goals and activities of The Safe Center LI, Inc. This is a great internship for individuals who would like to learn more about marketing, fundraising and special events with a non-profit organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare mailings, postage and mailing labels for agency collateral
  • Update flyers, social media images or graphics for events on Canva
  • Solicit raffle and auction prizes for special events
  • Set up centerpieces and signage for special events
  • Make phone calls and maintain donations to the agency
  • Help prepare event supplies and materials
  • Set up basic audio visual for events as needed
  • Complete inventory of supplies
  • Pick up donations as needed
  • Set up raffle and auction baskets for special events
  • Other duties/tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Canva preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to multi-task, manage databases, work in a fast-paced team environment

HOURS:
 
  • 10-14 hours a week required. Hours are flexible
  • Reliable transport required
  • Possible nights and weekends to accommodate special events
