Florida educators must be certified to teach in our public schools and in many of our private schools. Description: In this position, the candidate will serve as a Communications Supervisor to review, evaluate and implement modifications to procedures to enhance and increase individual production efficiency in the high-volume certification Contact Center. In this capacity, you will support a cross-training plan with the bureau units to ensure continuity within BEC. The Program Specialist Supervisor II position serves as the contact center coordinator and staff supervisor for specialists responsible for incoming calls and emails. General Responsibilities: • This position assists the Director with a variety of tasks. • This position is responsible for maintaining an organized workspace. • This position must work independently in a fast-paced team environment. • Attendance is an essential function of this position. Specific Responsibilities: • Ensure compliance with Florida Statutes and State Board of Education Rules to support stakeholders. • Coordinate with the Bureau Chief and Policy Director on legislative changes that affect educator certification. • Supervise the staff responsible for providing direct quality customer service through the Educator Certification Contact Center from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. • Evaluate and schedule the flow of work within the Communications Unit to establish and implement work priorities to insure current processing of constituent inquiries. • Contribute to the advancement of certification’s strategic directions through leadership of key programs and initiatives, utilizing management skills and professional knowledge. • Support the ongoing training of the Florida certification laws and rules to support applicants and stakeholders by phone and email. • Develop and maintain desk guides for the Communications Program Specialist I positions. • Research, evaluate and implement contact center procedures. • Prepare documents in accordance with Bureau policies and procedures. • Serve as back-up to the Communications Director on Educational Preparatory Institutes (EPI) policy implementation. • Maintain accurate documentation in an excel spreadsheet. Minimum Qualifications: • Bureau of Educator Certification experience. • High school diploma or equivalent. • Technology and computer experience. Preferred Qualifications: • Microsoft Office expertise. • Experience with Versa software. • Previous supervisory experience.
