What you'll do:

Provide leadership of the Human Resources function, including the design and implementation of HR strategies that align with corporate and business objectives, and the provision of broad-based HR advice and guidance to executives, managers and employees.

  • Advise the CEO in HR matters and act on behalf of the employer.
  • Lead HR initiatives for the organization, including the development of metrics.
  • Use discretion and professionalism in consensus-building, negotiation, conflict management, and coaching to support managers and leaders in problem-solving, employee relations, people management, and behaviours that enhance the values, vision and workplace culture.
  • Guide the HR and Payroll administration team to complete administrative and transactional HR functions.
  • Be an example in maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of HR activities.
  • Ensure all major human resources, employment and safety regulatory & legislative requirements are adhered to where required.
  • Lead the maintenance, development and implementation of human resources policies and programs for the Local Co-op.
  • Work within the governance structure of the Co-op, supporting the CEO with communicating and reporting to the Board of Directors where appropriate.
  • Maintain awareness of human resources trends, best practices and impacts to the Co-op and its respective commodities.
  • On an as needed basis, collaborate with FCL and other Local Co-ops to build upon human resources programs and strategies across the CRS.
  • Actively participate in business and human resources planning and decision making for the Co-op.
  • Develop and foster strong working relationships within the leadership team.
  • Provide leadership to the human resources team of professionals. Responsible for the talent management cycle, including recruitment, development and training, performance management, etc.
  • Give direction to the recruiting, payroll, health, safety and wellness function in order to lead the end-to-end processes for positions at all levels.
  • Ensure legislative compliance in all HR areas, including input into Health and Safety priorities.
  • Lead the annual Talent Management and Succession Management processes.


Who you are:

You are looking for a continued career in Human Resources and:

  • You have a University Degree and / or Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Human Resources..
  • You have 3 - 7 years of progressive HR experience.
  • You have or are close to completing the CPHR designation.
  • You are able to undergo and pass a police records check.
  • You have demonstrated experience leading the Human Resources function and providing guidance to a team of professionals on the end-to-end HR and Payroll Administration function, including remittance filing, etc.
  • You have expert level skill in consensus-building, negotiation, conflict management, and coaching to support managers and leaders in problem-solving, employee relations, people management, and behaviours that enhance the values, vision and workplace culture
  • You're honest and trustworthy, are results-oriented and strive to be the best in what you do.
  • You believe in building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most, and you recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives.
  • Able to refer to and interpret HR policies and applicable employment legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to remain current and up to date on HR trends and workplace insights
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to use HRIS and office software for productivity
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills and comprehension
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize workload
  • Customer and Client Service oriented
  • Solid experience using office-based software, e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
