Position Summary Description:
Responsible for overseeing all day-to-day activities in the HR department including overseeing benefits, payroll, and employee relations. Works closely with the HR Director on all company initiatives. Manages HR and employee engagement programs that align with Company Core Values and promote a safe and productive culture. Maintains company policies and continues to improve internal processes. Provides and implements solutions to enhance the employee experience.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; counseling employees, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Direct reports include: HR Coordinator, Recruiter, Payroll and Benefits Specialist
Qualifications:
Education/Training and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience.
HR Certification: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR preferred.
Five years of progressively responsible HR experience with at least two years in a managerial capacity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicates best practices relating to employment and labor policies.
- Manages the HR department by overseeing day-to-day activities to ensure compliance and consistent processing.
- Works with Payroll & Benefits Specialist and HR Generalist on all leave requests and determines applicable leave qualifications (i.e., FMLA, HFLL, TDI, WC, etc.) and prepares responses to employees if necessary.
- Keeps abreast of all Federal and State employment and payroll laws and communicates with HR and leaders on changes.
- Manages vendor service-level agreements, billing, and discounts to ensure high quality and effective service for the organization.
- Works closely with HR Director and managers on performance management including proper disciplinary actions while noting legal ramifications as a result of company actions against employees.
- Provides recommendations and updates to the company employee handbook, and company policies and procedures.
- Consults with HR Director, vendors, and others including consultants or legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.
- Works with HR Director stay within departmental budget.
- Oversees the maintenance of human resources files.
- Provides guidance, counsel and referral information to employees dealing with serious family, medical, and personal issues.
- Advises and assists management in handling problems of discriminatory work practices in their departments.
- Oversees employee onboarding.
- Supports employee engagement programs and initiatives, including company event planning.
- Uses the Company's Mission/Vision Statements and Core Values as their guiding principles.
- Serves on committees for employee morale building.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by HR Director.
