Job Description
We are looking for an energetic, innovative, and reliable communications professional who can actively support the internal communications requirements for our Seaspan workforce. In this role, you will have your finger on the heartbeat of the organization and play a critical role in making a difference for our teams spanning across the Shipyards and Marine businesses.
You thrive in fast-paced/growing organizations and are looking to grow your skills as part of an agile communications function. You are a natural storyteller who loves the idea of bringing the stories of the organization into the spotlight. You are comfortable providing communications counsel to various business partners across the organization - and taking them through a strategic planning process to help uncover the purpose/need, goals and objectives of any given initiative before jumping into tactics.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver

The estimated salary for this position is $85,500 - $104,500.In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. This position may involve defense articles and/or technical data regulated by the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR") and the U.S. Arms Export Control Act. What you'll do
With support from the Manager of Internal Communications:
- Implement employee communications and engagement strategies for Seaspan's diverse and dispersed audiences.
- Develop and deliver on internal communications plans in collaboration with sponsors and stakeholders to execute strategic initiatives throughout the organization.
- Work as part of the Communications team to communicate business strategies and provide consistent and compelling content across all platforms.
- Produce supporting content for internal initiatives and events including stories, presentations, visual collateral, key messages, and more.
- Measure, monitor, and report on the effectiveness of communication efforts - and adjust approach based on outcomes.
- Review communications across the organization to develop, maintain and communicate standards for communications, focusing on clarity, simplicity, style, consistency as well as brand identity and delivery.
- Work closely with the Manager of Internal Communications to ensure all internal communications and plans are integrated/aligned with external activities and plans.
What you'll bring
Education and Experience
- A post-secondary degree in marketing, communications, public relations or journalism.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience working in a Communications role.
Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
- Outstanding English writing and editing skills: ability to write for a broad spectrum of multi-media communications channels including multi-culture/lingual sensitivity.
- Solid project execution: ability to deliver (multiple) projects from end-to-end, hitting deadline without compromising quality.
- Relationship builder: ability to manage stakeholders and develop/maintain relationships both internally with business partners and externally with outside vendors.
- Digital know-how: up-to-date understanding on emerging technologies and digital media/tools.
- Employee engagement and culture: understanding of internal communications and change management best practices.
- Curiosity and can-do approach: willingness to continuously stretch, grow and learn - and always looking for ways to improve how Seaspan communicates with and engages employees.
