AMSOIL INC. is currently hiring a Senior Research & Development Chemist! This role is a lead technical contributor on the AMSOIL Chemistry Team, reporting to the Chemical Laboratory Director. They are responsible for applying knowledge and technical skills towards the development of new formulations to meet current and future business needs. Chemists in this role drive development projects, define project approach, and utilize fundamental or applied research as necessary to improve technical understanding, and enable concept maturation to product commercialization. This may be done through leveraging in house capabilities and external partnerships. In addition, R&D Chemists have responsibilities towards overall formulation management including collaborations with sourcing and production.
Core Responsibilities:
• Drive research efforts through investigations into new technologies and applications. Develop knowledge base and implement ideas into product development projects.
• Understand industry trends and company needs to enable new product development as well as application of new or emerging lab capabilities to support development projects.
• Lead and manage technical projects. Utilize project management skills to scope projects and drive to results.
• Collaborate with Engineers, Chemists and Product Managers to define and develop new products and formulations across our portfolio.
• Drive continuous improvement, capability development and safety in our laboratory.
• Provide mentorship and cross training to other members of the team. Share best practices and seek opportunities for continuous improvement and personal development.
Position Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related science
• 5-10 years of experience with chemistry, formulation and/or product development
• Ability to work collaboratively across all functions internally or externally
• Experience creating and managing technical projects
• Technically motivated and curious. Interested and able to take on new challenges with limited direction
• Thorough understanding of chemistry, materials science, and associated testing
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills
• Experience with computers and Microsoft Office programs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced knowledge of industrial lubricant chemistry, formulations, and testing
• Interest in Automotive or Industrial Equipment
• ICML or STLE Certifications
• Experience with tribological test methods and their application.
