Well-established primary medical care practice founded in 1974 Directed by a patient-majority Board of Directors 300+ employees group-wide focused on providing patient-centered, evidence-based, quality care 10 locations are Level III Patient Centered Medical Home (the rest will be soon) Centrally located on I-95 in northeastern North Carolina - about 1-2 hours northeast of Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill/RTP, south of Richmond/Petersburg VA, northwest of Greenville NC We offer: FP/IM Primary Care, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, School Based Health Centers, Dental, In-house Pharmacies & 340b pharmacy services, Integrated Behavioral Health (psychologists and LCSWs), Case Management, RN ACO Care Managers, Community-Based Outreach Program (Migrant Seasonal Farm Worker, health education, and insurance outreach). As a Community Health Center, we see everyone, with special emphasis on the underserved. Insured/Medicare/Medicaid/NC Health Choice/uninsured all accepted. Position Information Anticipated Call is 1:3 weekdays, 1:4 weekends. Schedule providers choice of 7 on/7 off schedule or more traditional schedule (M-F, a few evenings til 7, may be asked to cover Saturday morning clinic in rotation with other providers) Note: 7 on/7 off schedule will only require staying in the area during on weeks, traditional schedule will require full-time residence Average numbers for morning rounds: o Floor census: 0-2 patients per day, about 15-20 minutes per patient. No complicated patients - any sick newborns or pre-term infants are transferred to other facilities. o Nursery census: 1-5 babies averaging about 15-20 minutes to examine infant & speak with parents. We are a very busy pediatrics outpatient practice, but we are not a busy hospital for pediatrics; most on-call time is phone triage/advice rather than Avg. 10-15 phone calls/day on weekends. Primary reason on-call Pediatricians do go back to the hospital is stat C-sections; very rarely to see an ER patient when ER provider isn't comfortable. Whenever possible, mothers in labor with infants with known abnormalities or pre-term labor are transferred prior to delivery. Many weekends there are no deliveries. A typical weekend will have 1-2 C-sections with remaining deliveries being routine. Hospital admissions are for routine Pediatric diagnoses such as asthma, dehydration, fever, pneumonia. No NICU/PICU - Admissions requiring specialty care or ICU care are transferred to other facilities. Must be able to be privileged for the following (rarely needed, but must be comfort
