The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care, is seeking a dedicated COPD/Airways Disease Investigator to join our team at a prestigious tertiary care teaching hospital. The successful candidate will contribute at least 50% of their time to research through clinical trials, translational research, implementation science research and other acceptable methods as outlined for University faculty.

Key Responsibilities:

Research and Development:

  • Establish a Centers for Excellence Program for COPD/Airways Disease at The University of Kansas Health System
  • Seek extramural/intramural funds to support research and scholarship activities
  • Contribute to research through clinical trials, translational research, implementation science and other acceptable methods

Medical Care:

  • Provide medical care to pulmonary patients, including inpatient service and ambulatory clinics

Teaching and Instruction:

  • Instruct and demonstrate appropriate medical and research techniques to medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Participate in Department and Division educational activities

Mission Support:

  • Support the mission of delivering the highest quality of care
  • Fulfill teaching, research, and academic responsibilities

Required Qualifications:

  • MD/DO or equivalent
  • Satisfactory completion of an Internal Medicine residency and Pulmonary Medicine fellowship from an ACGME accredited program, with board certification/board eligibility in Pulmonary Diseases
  • In the field of COPD or Airways Disease, proven track record in clinical or translational research
  • Experience in providing comprehensive pulmonary care
  • Strong commitment to education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Ability to secure research funding
  • Eligible for licensure in Kansas and Missouri
