The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO is a seeking full-time BC/BE Pain Management physician who will provide care to Veterans in the Multidisciplinary Pain Management Program. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Diagnoses, treats, and manages patients with chronic pain conditions according to standard, usual and acceptable or customary methods and techniques including medication management with opioids and minor interventional pain procedures Reports to the Associate Chief of Staff, Specialty Care Services or his designated surrogate Works independently, caring for outpatients in an established clinic Consults with patients inpatient and Community Living Center settings Expected to cooperate with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care review and improvement, including orientation to Poplar Bluff VAMC safety and infection control procedures May have additional duties as collaborative support for a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant Position is part of the multidisciplinary Pain Management Program Perform sunder the general direction of the Associate Chief of Staff, Specialty Care Services May have personal contact with patients, family, visitors and other employees, including contract employees of various VA services Contacts with patients are for the purpose of medical care and information sharing as it relates to the medical care and special requirements Requires contact with physicians and other ancillary services personnel for information sharing and consultation Contacts with visitors and family members are required for information sharing as it relates to a particular patient Ages of patients served may vary greatly and include young (20s and 30s years of age); middle-aged (40s and 50s years of age); and older patients (60 and upward). Patients may have varying degrees of service connected and non-service connected disabilities Additional Details: Work Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm, M-F. Maybe required to furnish services on all calendar days and occasionally remain on duty later than 4:30pm, as required. FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan How is the pension funded? VA employees automatically contribute 4.4% of their salary each pay period and the VA contributes 8.3% of the employees salary each pay period for a total annual contribution percentage equal to 12.7% of the employees salary Similar to the 401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service.
