Leidos is looking to fill a Windows Server Engineer position to support the National Media Exploitation Center (NMEC). This role requires experience in VMWare virtual hosting environments, MS Windows Server 2016-2022 administration, Windows PowerShell scripting, Active Directory, and VDI. Applicant should be able to design and develop complex solutions without assistance from peers. Daily duties include O&M of virtual environments, designing and implementing new technologies, and mentoring more junior administrators. Must be able to work in a large team environment and collaborate when needed. Adaptability and thinking outside the box to meet complex customer requirement is key.
Location: Bethesda at the Intelligence Community Campus.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain Microsoft-based servers, databases, and workstations as well as VMware and Linux server instances.
  • O&M of virtual environments, patching, updating anti-virus and resolving security vulnerabilities. This could include but not limited to systems consolidation and integration, architecture designs and updates, site renovations and relocations.
  • Implement, upgrade/migrate, and maintain VMware hypervisor infrastructure to include technical hands-on support for the VMware platform.
  • Handle standard VMware engineer duties and recommend innovative and automated approaches wherever possible for infrastructure tasks.
  • Lead the triage and resolution of escalated, complex incidents, problems, or capacity concerns.
  • Responsible for maintaining daily operations, monitoring, problem identification/resolution of VMware server/systems, applications, and analyzing activity and performance ensuring system/application is providing optimum performance and availability.
  • Work across IT functional boundaries (other system administrators, SAN administrators, Network administrators, Database administrators, etc.) with configuration, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrade and system management for optimum performance and reliability.
  • Research, document and recommend new system related technologies and as well as migration and upgrade paths that could enhance, improve, automate and provide more efficiency and or up-to-date technologies to the operational environment.
  • Identify and correct hardware and software issues.
  • Communicate with users. Provide support for calls and emails, ensuring all interactions are timely and professional.
  • Participate in the creation and ongoing maintenance of documentation to ensure clear, concise, and accurate information is readily available to assist with incident resolution.
  • Plan and implement IT enhancements and undertaking project work.

Basic Qualifications
  • Requires a bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Experience supervising or mentoring others
  • Must understand virtual server technologies
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in designing and managing a VMware virtual infrastructure
  • Must have experience in information technology and information security, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Exchange, administration, and/or exchange management shell.
  • Experience working with monitoring systems supporting auditing, incident response, and system health.
  • Must have experience with software and security architectures.
  • Must have direct, hands-on experience providing assistance to users, optimizing system operations, and monitoring IT enterprise systems.
  • Experience with Scripting/Automation
  • Experience with interacting with customers to handle service inquiries and problems
  • Experience troubleshooting issues in a growing environment
  • Experience with server patch management methodologies
  • Time management skills
  • Experience with support ticket management systems
  • Candidate must, at a minimum, meet DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements (currently Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP along with an appropriate computing environment (CE) certification)

Clearance
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required OR active TS/SCI and willingness to get a Poly.
  • US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the government contracts we support.

Preferred Qualifications
  • VMWare Vcenter expertise
  • Experience with Data Center design and configuration (e.g., rack and stack, power, placement, etc.).
  • Experience in a System Administration role supporting a software configuration management and development environment.
  • Operating Systems: Windows, CentOS Linux, RedHat
  • Software: SQL Server, VMWare vCenter, Citrix, Trellix/Move, MS Exchange
  • Hypervisors: VMware ESXi

Pay Range: Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
