Slalom is looking for a technology leader to join its Data & Analytics team within our Austin location that is tied into our broader TOLA region. This leadership role has responsibilities split between project delivery, business development, and people management.

Job Title: Senior Principal, Data & Analytics [open to varying levels of seniority]

Slalom is looking for an experienced Data Science / Data Architecture consulting leader to drive the growth of Slalom's Data & Analytics capabilities within our greater TOLA region (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana & Arkansas). This person will provide thought leadership to our clients, deliver cutting edge AI solutions and steward Slalom's core values.

Location:This is a hybrid role located in Austin, Texas and candidates must be within commutable distance of our downtown Austin office. The role may require very occasional travel between our Austin, Houston and Dallas locations.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead and take ownership of end-to-end data science workstreams - gathering requirements, creating project roadmaps, leading meetings with stakeholders, and managing client and/or Slalom consultant teams
  • Build new predictive and prescriptive models in support of strategic business initiatives (including data preparation, model training and tuning, deployment, and monitoring).
  • Guide clients through their AI maturity journey, collaborating across all levels of an organization from engineering teams to c-suite
  • Facilitate/lead data science and AI-focused workshops and design sessions with executive teams
  • Apply statistical analysis and other data science techniques to support ad-hoc data reporting requests.
  • Support development, configuration, and deployment of a modern, cloud-based data science environment.
  • Support migration of existing, locally-run predictive models to scalable, cloud-based solutions (including data pipelines, model training and tuning notebooks, and predictive scripts).
  • Partner with account teams to qualify sales opportunities, write proposals and statements of work

What You'll Bring (Preferred Qualifications):
  • 10+ years of hands-on and client-facing experience as a Data Scientist, AI & ML Engineer, or Data & Analytics consultant
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Data Science / Data Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics. Master's Degree is a bonus.
  • History of success growing/leading Data Science teams.
  • Proven experience using programming languages (e.g., Python and SQL) to clean / transform data and to build enterprise-scale predictive models (including model training, selection, cross-validation, and deployment).
  • Ability to work in a small, fast-paced team.
  • Experience with AWS services is highly desirable, particularly EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and SageMaker.
