Description
Purpose:
The HR Manager will oversee the HR staff and administer practices, processes, and human resources information systems. The HR Manager will consistently deliver a proactive and professional HR service with an emphasis on continuous improvement, providing support to the business through effective partnerships with the Operations & Administrative Teams.
In addition to the day-to-day management of the HR Team and HR function, there is an emphasis on the review and functionality of the current HRIS systems, tools, and processes, to ensure that system and department capabilities are optimized and that HR services are delivered effectively and efficiently. The HR Manager will be work on projects including policy updates, compensation design, employee training programs, performance management tools, and compliance areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Analyzing the current HR processes and systems in place. Identify any inefficiencies or areas for improvement.
• Update processes and implement new processes to efficiently and accurately deliver HR services across the organization.
• Develop and maintain HR systems for daily operations. Configure the ERP/HRIS (UKG/PAID) software according to the specific needs of the company. This will involve setting up user roles, customizing fields and workflows, and ensuring data integrity. Automate and streamline HR functions while ensuring internal controls and data accuracy.
• Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and laws (e.g., US Dept of Labor, EEOC, ADA, OFCCP, etc).
• Provide prompt and professional responses to HR-related inquiries.
• Oversee the HR functional areas, including but not limited to recruiting, onboarding, training, and offboarding.
• Supervise HR staff to ensure professional and efficient completion of tasks.
• Train line managers and project administrative staff on HR-related matters through webinars, conference calls, and meetings to ensure employees follow best practices and company policies
• Assist in conflict resolution and employee relations.
• Oversee administration of the worker's compensation program.
• Implement and oversee training programs for staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Oversee the operations of the HR department
• Works with department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations as needed.
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of HR manager or supervisor-level experience required.
• SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification preferred.
• Knowledge of computer systems and ERP/HRIS software programs. Strong working knowledge and use of UKG and Costpoint. Experience with SharePoint, Box, LMS, Microsoft Office, and compensation tools preferred.
• Excellent up to date knowledge of US federal and state employment law legislation.
• Specific experience with ANC's (Alaska Native Corporations) and government contracting, including experience with the Service Contract Act, and union workforces in multi-state environments.
• Experience with Shared Service models for organizations with multiple subsidiaries.
• Extensive knowledge of best practices related to the HR Function. Ability to manage and work with highly confidential information.
• Experience in advising and managing employee relations, including grievance and disciplinary investigations.
• Experience in leading teams and managing an HR function, including coaching and mentoring.
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of staff, from front-line workers to managers and executives.
• Ability to listen and effectively verbalize ideas, including project meetings, meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and during high-conflict meetings, such as disciplinary hearings.
• Strong written skills with proven ability to draft policies, procedures and reports.
• Excellent presentation skills, both formally and informally.
• Delivery focused with the ability to prioritize and organize workload within agreed-upon deadlines.
• Ability to manage projects, strong organizational skills, and strong stakeholder focus.
• A proactive and can-do approach towards work tasks.
