With integrated full-stack technology, our world-class team is rapidly scaling quantum computing.Quantinuum recently secured $300M in funding, visit our news pages to learn more about this and other Quantinuum scientific breakthroughs and achievements: We are seeking up to two highly qualified R&D Managers for our Broomfield, Colorado location to manage either our 1) transport & trap team or our 2) physics package/validation team. The responsibilities of these teams include planning, development, validation, and handoff of novel methods and hardware that enable cutting-edge performance of current and future commercial Quantum Computer Systems. Managers in these roles will lead and mentor a group of physicists, technicians, and engineers. Each of these roles is a coach-player position, with individual technical contribution, technical leadership, and people management in roughly equal parts. As such, successful candidates will possess a broad and deep understanding of ion transport, atomic/molecular/optical (AMO) physics, and/or technical design with a focus on UHV (ultra-high vacuum) and cryogenic systems.All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.Key Responsibilities:Establish strategic plans for your team, including: -Technical scope: milestones, inchstones, and key decision points. -Develop test plans and identify key handoffs with technical partners. -Recognize critical interdependencies with peer groups and adjacent disciplines.Own and manage programmatic execution of the above plans, including: -Tracking and reporting of progress against the plan. -Resource allocation and prioritization to meet milestones. -Risk/opportunity identification and management.Provide hands-on support and management of critical technical priorities, as well as key long-term development projects.Transport & Trap Team Manager: -Lead a team of experimental and numerical scientists pushing the frontier of surface ion trap design and ion transport methods. -Collaborate with quantum computer system architects to derive surface ion trap and ion transport requirements for current and future systems. -Perform and guide efforts in conceptualizing, developing, simulating, and demonstrating transport methods to meet these requirements. -Develop and manage software tools needed for transport waveform generation, analysis, and trap design. -Support transport functionality in all Quantinuum testbeds and commercial systems.Physics Package & Validation Team Manager: -Lead a team of scientists and engineers in the construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting of current-generation physics packages for all Quantinuum testbeds and commercial systems. -Collaborate with quantum computing system architects and sub-system teams to derive requirements and testing plans for key subsystems in next-generation physics-package hardware. -Lead a team of physicists and engineers developing and building atomic sources for delivering ions to quantum computing hardware.Own the technology portfolio for your technical area; this includes IP development and capture, procurement planning, long-term development strategy, and roadmap planning.Identify team-level staffing needs and fill key gaps via: -Mentoring, coaching, and training direct-report engineers & scientists. -Meeting project objectives by hiring and developing staff with the right skills for success. -Planning and nurturing career development of direct-report engineers & scientists. -Performing technical goal setting, employee performance assessments, and compensation adjustments.YOU MUST HAVE:Bachelor’s Degree minimumMinimum 8+ years of experience in technical research and development (graduate school inclusive).Minimum 2+ years of experience in the development and/or operation of AMO and/or QC systems.Minimum 1+ year of experience serving as the leader of an advanced technical team (either task leadership or personnel management, or both).Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee statusWE VALUE:Advanced degree—Master’s or PhD—in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.12+ years of experience in a related technical field.Direct experience with people management in a technical industry.Proven expertise in AMO physics and/or quantum computing.3+ years of industry experience.Experience in complex task management (cost, schedule, risk/opportunity, etc.).A track record of high-technology (engineering or physical science) development.A strong and active network of professional relationships.Strong organizational and leadership skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.People who want to change the world positively through the power of quantum computing.$170,000 - $190,000 a yearCompensation & Benefits:Range posted is inclusive of bonus target when applicableEstimated Salary Wage: $170,000 - $190,000 Annually What is in it for you? -A competitive salary and innovative, game-changing work -Flexible work schedule -Employer subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance -Equity, 401k retirement savings plan + 12 Paid holidays and generous vacation + sick time -Paid parental leave -Employee discounts Quantinuum is an equal opportunity employer.
