Summary
The Commissioning Engineer will commission the machinery software on the T-AO Program, including debugging, updates and constructive change. They are expected to support aftermarket upgrades for MSC.
Responsibilities
- Plan, carry out and document ship electrical/automation surveys (part of the pre-quotation phase).
- Plan and take part in installation and commissioning of electrical, automation, remote control and IT systems in connection with onboard fluid machinery such as HVAC, combustion air & machinery ventilation, pumping- and compressor systems).
- Program PLCs to meet customer functional specifications while in accordance with industry standards such as IEC 61131
- Develop testing procedures for automation systems
- Perform factory acceptance testing with customer and regulatory body in attendance
- Interpret customer specifications and drawings as they apply to our scope of supply.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Regulatory bodies such as ABS, USCG, DNV, NEC, etc.
- Excellent electronic (email) communications skills.
- Ability to travel to the ship, both at the shipyard and once in service.
- Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Interpret customer specifications and drawings as they apply to automation equipment and related products.
- Support Business Development with technical input and review into proposals for potential new business.
- Interface with customers, sales and field installation services personnel.
- Experience using AutoCad.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer, Mechanical, Electrical or Naval/Marine Engineering from an accredited university or college (Master's level or higher preferred)
- 2+ years overall experience with relevant commissioning experience to the marine/offshore industries.
