In this role, you will play a key role in specifying, developing, characterizing, and validating magnetic sensors. You should be familiar with magnetic sensor device physics, technology, process, and fabrications. Experience with ASIC development is desired but not required.DescriptionYou will be developing and validating motion sensors. You will be expected to identify, create, and document new sensing metrics. Work cross-functionally to identify critical performance parameters. Core responsibilities include:
Evaluate and drive new sensor design, new technology investigation, manufacturing process development, and system integration.
Identify and translate customer user experience into hardware level performance evaluation metrics
Work cross-functionally to identify and specify critical performance parameters and error sensitivities.
Develop high quality measurement methods to enable thorough validation coverage of sensors on tight development schedules.
Support engineering build activities with performance validation measurements, yield optimization, and failure analysis coordination.
Work with suppliers to proactively identify and resolve issues.
Analyze trade-offs among performance, manufacturability, size, schedule and cost.
Travel to supplier facilities and manufacturing sites for production validation and issues resolution.
Author high quality and thorough engineering requirements specifications for sensors.
Prepare and deliver presentations to clearly communicate technical status, risks and mitigation strategies for ongoing sensing system programs.
Diagnose engineering issues with true scientific method driving to definitive root cause.Minimum QualificationsBS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experiencePreferred Qualifications5+ years of hands-on experience and proven track record in magnetic sensor and/or sensing system development.Experience in architecture, design, characterization, and validation of magnetic sensor or sensing technology that includes theory of operation, signal processing, fabrication, packaging and design trade-offs.Familiar with magnetic sensing technologies, such as hall-effect, AMR, GMR, TMR, and inductive sensing.Experience in modeling, data collection, data analysis, and statistical analysis tools (ANSYS Maxwell, Comsol, Matlab, Python, JMP).Excellent written and verbal communication skills and solid teamwork and leadership skills.The willingness and ability to travel are required.PhD degree in engineering, or Bachelor/MS degree in engineering plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience.Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
