We are seeking a Senior News Editor to assist the Executive Editor in managing our team of field reporters dedicated to gathering exclusive news stories for the site. That coverage includes moving news stories as well as enterprise projects and longer-term investigative pieces. You will be responsible for ensuring output at the highest journalistic standard which aligns with the demands of a 24-hour global news operation.
**This is an in office job must be located in the tri-state area
The successful candidate must have excellent news judgement and be able to quickly identify and pursue a wide range of stories that will engage and enlighten our readership. The position also requires the candidate to possess strong headline writing and editing skills, and a keen eye in choosing compelling images that help tell and support the story.
Candidates should also be able to demonstrate a strong track record of news gathering, editing and managing an enterprise reporting team responsible for breaking exclusive content, together with a working knowledge of the processes and pressures that come with operating in this fast-paced environment. Familiarity with journalistic legal processes pre-publication is also essential.
Dailymail.com operates a 24/7 newsroom, and you will be required to help direct a team of reporters in the field according to the demands of the news cycle. This role will be based out of the New York office.

Main Responsibilities
- Managing a team of enterprise reporters in conjunction with our roster of independent professional photographers and videographers
- Work with the Executive Editor to brainstorm ideas for stories and coordinate news gathering and workflow
- Guiding reporters to ensure they are supported and working to their fullest potential
- Talent scouting potential sources and freelance reporters
We are looking for professionals with the following:
- Passion for the DailyMail.com brand, its editorial voice and global audience
- At least six years or more experience managing enterprise teams in a major newsroom
- Proven track record of breaking exclusive content
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment
- Capability to write and edit in a pressurised environment
- Strong communication skills to direct and work collaboratively with a global team of editorial executives and co-workers
- Working knowledge of the law and its impact on journalistic expression
- Applicable knowledge of multi-platform news gathering tools and resources
