Job Function:

The Director of Social Strategy is a leader responsible for ensuring our team is ideating and creating engaging social content to build amazing social presences for our clients. You'll report to the Senior Director of Strategy and will manage and oversee 2-3 Social Strategists who work across a handful of social AOR clients. This role requires proven experience in bringing countless social ideas to life, building out content calendars, and helping brands grow their social channels through engaging content and social strategies.

You understand that what works on Instagram doesn't necessarily work on TikTok, that "hero videos" are an outdated approach to social media, and you know what it takes to get followers to comment things like, "marketing team deserves a raise."

You'll contribute to everything from big ideas and social playbooks to repeatable social franchises and creator-led content. Some ideas will have production budgets, while others will be done in-house. You'll provide the social and operational leadership to ensure our team is doing the best work (and working in the best ways) possible on social media.

Soft skills are extremely important to this team. We're looking for someone who is tapped in, passionate about the work, takes initiative, pushes their own ideas, communicates effectively and timely, collaborates cross-functionally, and solves problems with empathy.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Work with direct reports daily to ensure we're developing consistently great socially-native ideas (big and small), building them out in decks, and selling them to our clients.
  • Work quickly to build ideas and provide clear feedback, moving at the speed required for social.
  • Develop and implement new processes that help the team work better.
  • Lead on building out social ideas, rollout plans, and more with compelling Google Slides decks.
  • Lead and/or oversee the development of social playbooks, specifically the areas focused on our approach, social strategy, content strategy, TOV, and content ideas.
  • Write strong social copy (ideas, captions, in-asset copy, pitch decks, scripts, etc.).
  • Stay engaged with social trends, culture, music, sports, and entertainment to pitch social ideas, share trends we should tap into, and outline things we should be aware of.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to our clients by helping define and shape the brand's vision/role on social with a roadmap/plan for our team to help them get there.
  • Go from brief to execution, being able to take in a client brief, build out ideas and a social plan, and follow through on the execution of creative and production.
  • Oversee and lead work across multiple clients in different verticals (e.g., fitness vs. CPG).
  • Serve as a Strategy lead and/or oversight role on new social RFPs.
  • Develop influencer and creator-led creative strategies and concepts.
  • Assist in the development and growth of our Social Strategy specialty (expertise, hiring, etc.) as we grow with current and new clients.

Qualifications:
  • 6-8 years of working in social - agency, tech, media, or brand side.
  • 2-3 years of managing direct reports.
  • Portfolio of social work (CPG, fitness, fashion, music are a plus).
  • Experience building social ideas/plans in decks.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience helping people grow in their roles.
  • Proficiency in creating Google Slides decks (design, layout, speed, familiarity).
  • Deep knowledge of social platforms (features, behaviors, how they differ).
  • Passion and love for social media, culture, music, sports, and more.
  • Excellent pitching, storytelling, and communication skills.
  • Experience working on creator and influencer work.
