Job Description
WSP Applied Solutions is seeking a bilingual construction project estimator to join its team based in Montreal. Reporting to the Pre-Construction Operations Manager, the project estimator will work closely with project managers, engineers, and consultants in various sectors, including environmental remediation, water treatment, civil and marine works, infrastructure services, and mine closure. They will be responsible for developing high-quality cost estimates and associated schedules in response to internal requests or external tenders. For development purposes, they will manage the entire proposal process, including the creation and management of technical and administrative documents required as part of the client's procurement process.

What you can expect to do here:
- Training using HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software and optimizing its use;
- Developing project scopes of work and dividing it into work packages with internal or external clients;
- Preparing cost estimates, cost breakdowns for proposals to be submitted, and the basis of estimation required by the estimation manager according to program requirements;
- Contributing to the development of accompanying technical narratives for proposals;
- Managing the request and review of supplier and subcontractor submissions;
- Developing project schedules associated with estimates and proposals;
- Applying risk management procedures to all estimates;
- Ensuring all estimates are accurate and account for all risk factors;
- Participating in design and specification reviews to ensure cost-effectiveness and propose appropriate alternatives when applicable;
- Mentoring and training of less experienced estimators.

What you'll bring to WSP:
- Over 5 years of relevant experience in project estimating;
- Degree in engineering or a relevant program;
- Ability to communicate in French and English, both orally and in writing (professional level required);
- Relevant prior experience in the civil engineering or mining industry;
- Adaptability and flexibility, including the ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity, and change;
- Ability to multitask, work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously, manage time, organize, and prioritize;
- Strong interpersonal skills, as the role requires continuous interaction with team members, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, reviewing, and proofreading abilities;
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and Outlook;
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills are essential;
- Knowledge/experience with HCSS Heavy Bid software is a plus.
