Essential Job Functions

  • Professionally represents GH Phipps
  • Establish and foster long term, positive relationships with internal customers and external business partners
  • Execute GH Phipps policies and procedures in accomplishing work

  • Provides leadership, guidance and vision
  • Supports Project Manager in staff meetings, month-end reviews, design review meetings, task force meetings. Participates in operating report meetings
  • Manages direct reports' performance and is responsible for mentoring direct reports
  • Manages project exit strategy
  • Administers GH Phipps' risk management program
  • Acts as chief problem solver on all design issues where applicable
  • Provides final approval in the development of subcontract agreements
  • Assists the Project Manager with fiscal responsibilities including final approval of monthly projections, invoices and change orders
  • Assists the Project Manager in final approval of PCOs for submittal
  • Is responsible for project schedule updates and management
  • Is responsible for project baseline CPM
  • Reviews project equipment selection for both in-house and OSR
  • Works with Project Manager manage overtime approval requests
  • Demonstrates strong construction process and knowledge of building codes
  • Effectively leads and delivers on key project commitments
  • Is responsible for material delivery schedules and implementing change management
  • Communicates with the Project Manager, other superintendents, subcontractors and field leaders to ensure project status and any changes are known to all involved parties
  • Supports the development of team member competencies and skill sets. Maintains regular communication with team members and actively engages with General Superintendent in team support and problem-solving
  • Is responsible for job set-up, communication, safety compliance, record-keeping, QC and project closeout
  • Is responsible for the completion of daily logs
  • Is responsible for completion of the job start-up checklist
  • Is responsible for the completion of electronic jobsite paperwork filing
  • Enforces the details of the subcontract agreements and Attachments A, B and C
  • Is responsible for weekly planners for short interval schedules
  • Participates in preconstruction meetings with subcontractors
  • Chairs weekly subcontractor Foreman meetings; mentors foremen
  • Walks the jobsite at least once each day to ensure safety, quality, and job progress
  • Manages site, building and interior layout control
  • Is responsible for adherence to shop drawings and project documents
  • Reviews shop drawings for conformance to contract and field conditions
  • Manages third party testing and resolution of non-conformance
  • Is responsible for Architect/Consultant's observation reports and resolution of non-conformance
  • Supports and enforces the requirements for jobsite safety. Completes reports as required in the Safety Manual.
  • Assists supervisor with accident reporting
  • Is responsible for full implementation of company safety, risk management, environmental and stormwater programs
  • Verifies that JHAs are utilized on the jobsite
  • Manages material delivery/procurement
  • Verifies adherence with GH Phipps' SDS program
  • Directs GH Phipps' Quality Assurance Program
  • Is responsible for as-built/record drawings and specifications
  • Actively participates in, and provides required deliverables for, all 5 steps of the pre-planning process
  • Provides constructability reviews for each set of progress drawings
  • Reviews soils reports
  • Conducts pre-award meetings with all major scopes of work
  • Develops the site logistics plan in collaboration with the Project Manager, and assists in the development of the Stormwater and site-specific safety plans
  • Embraces a lean culture and work environment
  • Mentors and trains direct reports
  • Understands details of owner contracts
  • Manages permits and inspections for AHJs
  • This position is considered to be a safety sensitive and requires full adherence to all safety guidelines issued by company


Skills

  • Strong construction process management
  • Knowledge of building codes
  • Proficient in CMiC
  • Proficient in Bluebeam
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge and use of Primavera 6 and vPlanner
  • Coordination/lift drawings
  • Read and comprehend all disciplines of contract documents
  • Understanding of project finances
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of commercial construction
  • Understanding of total station practices for building control


Experience & Education Requirements

  • Minimum six (6) years of general commercial construction experience required


Certification & Licensures Requirements

  • OSHA 30 Certification is required
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Stormwater Management Supervisor Certificate
  • Properly trained in Fall Protection, Excavation, Precast & Steel Erection, Confined space


The salary range for this position is $ 102,000 - 130,000 and is dependent in experience and title/rank of position offered.
