Job Title: EVP & Chief Credit Officer

We are looking for EVP & Chief Credit Officer to join our team. The Chief Credit Officer is responsible for the operation of the bank's credit operations and for significant contribution to the formulation, development, recommendation, implementation, and administration of bank-wide loan policies and credit practices. The Chief Credit Officer is a broad-based job with responsibility for direct supervision of the credit practices of credit administration staff, and the indirect supervision of other lending officers and staff representing safe and sound credit practices throughout the Bank.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate as a member of executive management to establish overall vision, goals, and strategies; oversee employee communication efforts to ensure understanding of the Bank's strategic direction.
- Ensure adequate risk assessment of the lending function and establish sound policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all banking laws and regulations governing the extension of credit, and to minimize the Bank's risk of noncompliance.
- Develop sound and prudent policies, standards, processes, and procedures for the granting, monitoring, and collection of loans, to ensure the Bank's risks are minimized.
- Establish and maintain a program and procedures for the prompt identification, reporting, and collection of delinquent, problem and nonaccrual loans.
- Ensure the timely placement of loans on nonaccrual and the timely charge off of loans graded loss.
- Chair the Management Loan Committee and prepare necessary documents for the Board's Loan & Credit Policy Committee.
- Monitor the loan portfolio and lending activities for policy and procedures conformity, regulatory compliance, delinquencies, and trends. Review monthly, quarterly or as scheduled lending activity and loan monitoring reports, including but not limited to compliance audit reports, loan review reports, delinquency reports, loan mix and concentration reports, loan charge off and recovery reports, and the analysis of the adequacy of the allowance for loan and lease losses.
- Supervise the use of outside service providers, such as appraisers, search companies, title insurance companies, environmental service companies, etc., and ensure that only qualified, reputable, and financially sound service providers are used by the Bank.
- Supervise the continuous review, monitoring, and strengthening/correction of loans on the Bank's internal "Loan Watch List," including collection and contracting with outside legal counsel as necessary. The review process shall include all loans graded Special Mention, Substandard, and Doubtful, any questionable or nonperforming loans, and all OREO properties. Ensure that appropriate loans are placed on nonaccrual or charged off in a timely manner, and that adequate provisions are made to the reserve for loan and lease losses.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or real estate related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum seven years of experience in lending related positions and five in a management position.
- Direct experience with regulators, auditors, and other consultants in the industry.
- Ability to retain a broad knowledge of tasks performed in the lending functions.
- Ability to analyze and organize financial information and perform complex financial calculations.
- Detailed knowledge of lending regulations, lien laws, and loan documentation.
- Expert knowledge of the real estate field, including appraisals, deeds, and lien recording.
- Present a professional image in dealing with customers, interdepartmental and external representatives.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and over the phone.
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, employees, regulators, or board members.
- Accurate typing/keyboarding skills; basic computer skills, including the use of word processing, spreadsheet software applications, and e-mail.
- Ability to demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior.
- Organizational ability with strong supervisory and management skills.
- Ability to remain flexible in order to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, problem prevention, and problem-solving skills.
