DescriptionWe are offering a role for a Controller in the non-profit sector, based out of San Diego, California. The role primarily involves leading financial activities, ensuring the integrity of general ledger data, and managing vendor relationships. Responsibilities:• Lead and execute month-end closing activities, ensuring the general ledger is consistently accurate and updated.• Monitor cash requirements to ensure sufficient funds for payroll and other payments.• Direct Contract Compliance and Vendor Management activities.• Review significant estimate accounts such as bad debt allowance, sales return, and refunds accruals.• Prepare and distribute user-friendly financial reports on a monthly and ad-hoc basis.• Lead and mentor the Association Office accounting team.• Create and review GL account analysis and reconciliations for various accounts.• Manage the Association's Fund, Reserve, and Endowment accounting.• Prepare accurate and timely annual IRS forms and other Federal, State, and local government filings.• Serve as the liaison for the independent annual audit process, and oversee its preparation.• Maintain detailed and organized records of all Association contracts, leases, capital pledges, deeds, and other legal documents.• Manage the Association's employee credit card program, ensuring user compliance with rules and issuing new cards as needed.Requirements• Proficient in auditing practices and principles• Demonstrable experience in budget processes• Knowledge of federal government contracts (OMB specific)• Expertise in fund accounting within the non-profit sector• Experience with system implementation• Proficiency in NetSuite software• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills• Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and handle multiple tasks• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field• CPA or relevant certification is highly desirable• Previous experience in a similar role within the non-profit industry is preferred.
