Responsibilities: • Take care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and maintaining an organized filing system for all legal documents • Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer • Coordinate law office activity, including the drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers • Conduct interviews with clients to gather information about their legal issues • Experience taking a task from start to finish with minimal direction from supervising attorneys (self-starter, independent worker, problem solver) • Work with lawyers to prepare for trial by conducting research on legal articles, preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and assisting with client meetings • Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including correspondence such as petitions, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and declarations • Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews • Take care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and maintaining an organized filing system for all legal documents • Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers Qualifications: • Candidates should possess high-level organizational skills, and time-management skills • Candidates must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree preferred • Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education • At least 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting • Strong oral and written communication skills • Required 1+ years of Family Law experience working in California • Candidate must be well versed in Family Law legal terminology, laws, judicial decisions, court jurisdictions, and procedures, and Family Law knowledge is a must • The ability to work with little supervision • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Computer-literate and tech-savvy • Experience Note: The required knowledge and abilities to perform this function are typically attained through approximately 1-2 years of experience performing work in the Family Law Field. Will only consider candidates that meet Family Law Experience Requirements Compensation: $45 hourly based on experience
