Pediatric Endocrinologist | We'Re Growing

Valley Medical Group, Paramus, NJ, United States

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Pediatric Endocrinologist to join our growing practice.

ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT

Valley Medical Group | Valley-Mount Sinai Children’s Service

www.valleyhealth.com/services/childrens-health

The division is seeking a well-qualified pediatric endocrinologist to complement the clinic and meet the community's need for additional pediatric endocrinology coverage.  The Division is currently constituted by 3 MD providers and 1 APN. The Division supports a robust Diabetes and Growth Failure program. We actively collaborate with our colleagues within Valley Medical Group multispecialty pediatric practice and Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital in the care of children with complex conditions. There is significant need in our community for this service, as evidenced by an average wait time for new patient visits of two months.  A new provider will be able to develop a large practice

The incoming pediatric endocrinologist will be providing care to patients, mainly in the outpatient environment and share calls to provide care for any pediatric endocrine patients admitted in the Valley hospital. The candidate will have the opportunity to work full-time within the clinic and be responsible for all general, pediatric endocrinology duties. The physician will be joining an experienced team of three physicians and a nurse practitioner. The team is specifically seeking endocrinologist trained and interested in care of transgender and gender diverse youth to support the growing local demands and the Valley hospital’s LGBTQ+ comprehensive care initiative. The practice has a referral base of over 30 pediatricians.

The state-of-the-art clinic is located on our new Medical Campus, across from the new Valley Hospital.  The clinic has the following services offered on-site: testing center and a treatment room.  Growth hormone testing is currently being done at the hospital across the street.

The incoming pediatric endocrinologist will be afforded a flexible schedule that equates to 36 patients-care hours and 4 hours for administrative duties per week. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM.  The weekend calls coverage will be equally shared between the physicians.

The clinic sees annual outpatient volumes of 3000 for pediatric endocrinology. It includes about 200 youth Type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, individuals with general pediatric endocrine disorders including almost 700 youth with growth failure, obesity and adiposity associated comorbidities, lipid disorders, thyroid disorders, pituitary and adrenal pathologies. We would like to expand the endocrine care of transgender and gender diverse youth.   On average, each pediatric endocrinologist is scheduled for 12-16 patient visits daily. The provider’s patient mix is made up of about 30% new patient visits and 70% patient follow-up visits. The incoming pediatric endocrinologist will have a support staff of two certified diabetic educators (CDE), part-time social workers, medical assistants, and registered nurses.

The incoming physician will be able to ramp up a general pediatric endocrinology practice quickly due to the patient demand.  -   Valley Medical Group has a relationship with Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine which allows for an opportunity to be involved in academics or research.  This is not guaranteed as the incoming provider will have to meet Mount Sinai’s criteria for academic appointment and approval by their academic promotions committee.  Almost all pediatric cases remain with the group with a rare exception of obscure metabolic issue referrals.  The call rotation is equally shared amongst the physicians, mainly telephone call only.
