Summary
The Employee Relations Manager will assist in directing employee relation activities in the United States related to standardization and implementation of company and Human Resources policies, programs and services including retention, performance management, HR legal compliance, employee relations, internal investigations, employment practices and procedures and employee communications. This position will provide guidance, training and assistance to Alta's leaders, employees and employee relations staff members and drive consistency in approach to these functions across all US locations. This position will directly oversee the employee relations staff and will be responsible for the management and development of these employees.

Leadership Responsibilities
Supervises and carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, retaining, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing and resolving issues. The position also requires active leadership in the way of supporting strategic initiatives as well as personal development and application of Six Sigma methodologies. All leadership positions are expected to attain Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University with a focus on HR Management required; Master's Degree preferred. Five years' experience in Human Resources field required. PHR/SHRM-CP or SPHR/SHRM - SCP certification preferred.
TECHNOLOGY SKILL BASE
This position requires a working knowledge of computer technology that includes: Intermediate Word and Excel, along with Client and Alta designated software. Individuals must possess the ability to learn and understand new software and other technology applications as introduced by the Client and Alta Resources.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Essential Duties & Responsibility include the following.

- Conduct all aspects of position in accordance with Strategic Mandates of Employee Engagement, Increased Profitability, Applied Innovation and Governed Growth and reinforce them with staff and other employee relations personnel.
- Participate in developing and implementing employee relations activities, plans and procedures to ensure standardization, use of best practices and gained efficiencies
- Evaluate the employee relations team structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) for individuals
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with Legal Counsel as needed/required
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships and communications within all areas and across all locations of the organization
- Conduct personnel investigations with regards to breach of company policy and work with legal counsel as needed with regards to state and federal investigations
- Serve as a resource for management to define needs, identify performance improvement opportunities and discuss problem resolution
- Oversee the Company's On Boarding process
- Complete monthly & annual reports utilizing HRIS and reporting software
- Responsible for ensuring the Employee Handbook remains relevant to the strategic direction of the organization, reduce risk, and remain in compliance of state and federal regulations
- Partner with operational leadership to coordinate retention initiatives
- Conduct training and development sessions by assisting in creating content with HR, Operational Leadership and outside consultants
- Participate in operational project teams as a HR Subject Matter Expert
- Interface with the community to help foster a positive image of the company as well as participate in professional organizations and roundtables
- Regular attendance, punctuality and adherence to agreed-upon schedule of availability are conditions of employment and essential function of this position
