EssentialDuties and Responsibilities:
Assist withoverall Power BI/SQL Support (development, performance, process, documentation)related to the Data Quality Enhancement initiative and other development efforts as needed. Activitiesinclude:
• Maintain the confidentiality of all business data and adhere to VRS datasecurity policies.
• Meet all deliverables withing the agreed upon timeframe.
• Provide regular status updates and attend various meetings as required.
• Develop, design, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards based onbusiness requirements.
• Create interactive visualizations, reports, dashboards that assist witheffective monitoring of Critical Data Elements.
• Advise on best practices in data visualization and report optimization.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needsand translate into actionable reports.
• Develop, optimize and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures fordata retrieval and manipulation.
• Develop DAX queries to enhance the performance and functionality ofreports.
• Develop reports to support KPIs and other performance indicators.
• Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI and SQL tools.
• Review existing SQL Queries, Execution Plans, Partitions, and Index(s)to determine performance enhancements for long running queries.
• Provide alternative options to existing data manipulation techniques.Examples would be converting Excel manipulation activities into solutions thatreduce process/cycle time of data preparation.
• Specialprojects at the direction of the Chief Operating Officer or Data Officer.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in developing reports, dashboards, and datavisualizations using Power BI.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server SQL development,including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Experience in writing complex DAX queries.
• Experience with MS SQL Server data modelling and schema design.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team that includesbusiness and technical stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desired Skills:
• Experience in Pensions Benefit Management programs.
• Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView).
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
• Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or equivalent.
• Other relevant certifications in SQL, Data Analysis and databasemanagement.
Educationand/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from a four-year collegeor university preferred and 5+ years' experience with technology or data organizationsrequired.
