About the team
Worldpay powers the technology behind some of the most innovative companies in the world and is known as the leading payments technology provider in the industry. At Worldpay, we are on a mission to modernize our technology and supercharge developers with APIs that are simple to integrate yet powerful. The Developer Experience and API Product team owns the vision for how we empower developers with innovative tools, products, and delightful self-service experiences. This team plays a pivotal role in Worldpay, focusing on our API products and end-to-end user journeys in our developer portals. Because this team unifies capabilities across the domains, this is a highly collaborative team that works closely with stakeholders across the organization such as other Product leaders, UX, engineering, operations, sales, and marketing.
What you'll own
As the Technical Writer within the APIs & Developer Experience team, you will be responsible for producing, editing and reviewing user-friendly documentation, including API product guides, documentation, technical specifications, user guides, and knowledge base articles, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and coherence. You will work closely with the engineers, architects, system analysts, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to help execute the product vision for API documentation. The ideal candidate is an experienced Technical Writer with real-world experience creating external facing technical documentation targeted for Developers.
The Technical Writer will be a developer experience champion, a great team player who works with encouraging approach with cross functional teams. Curious, motivated, forward-thinking can-do attitude could join the team.

Worldpay is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $65,440.00 - $106,660.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers and product managers, to gather information and understand complex technical concepts for effective documentation
- Organize and maintain a centralized repository for all documentation, ensuring version control, accessibility, and ease of navigation
- Continuously improve documentation processes, tools, and practices to streamline content creation and maintenance, with alignment on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in technical writing
- Conduct research, gather requirements, and stay up to date with the latest software features and updates to deliver accurate and relevant documentation
- Participate in usability testing and provide feedback to enhance the user experience of our applications and documentation
- Ensure that API documentation adheres to the company's brand and style guidelines, is user-friendly, and follows industry best practices
- Work closely with product managers and subject matter experts to understand the API's functionality, use cases, and target audience
- Organize and structure the API documentation, keep the API documentation up to date with the latest API releases, changes, and improvements
- Passionate about keeping documentation cohesive and organized to help execute our content strategy
- Interested in coding. Though this role won't involve programming, you will be working with a lot of templating tools, tailored to engineers.
- Work with other technical writers across teams to help adopt and implement best practice guidelines and working agreements to accomplish consistency while allowing for self-service

What you bring
- 3+ years of relevant experience writing and leading technical documentation for developers.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills. You can write technical documentation in a readable way, and write compelling articles to drive engagement
- Experience with HTML, CSS, VS Code, Git, Postman and Markdown
- Good understanding of RESTful APIs and web applications, including JSON, XML, Swagger/OAS, YAML and related technologies
- Amazing interpersonal communication. You can build relationships quickly and find successful outcomes across teams
- Strategic thinker that can identify opportunities in our content strategy, execute new initiatives, and then measure their success
- Strong team player, comfortable collaborating with and coordinating the efforts of cross-functional colleagues.
- Highly self-motivated with a strong will to win, ability to take ownership and desire to drive for optimal business results.
- Ability to operate independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, under the supervision of Senior Technical Writers / Product Managers
- Ability to adapt to and embrace frequent change with a positive attitude.
- A self-starter with a can-do attitude who can operate with minimal direct/daily supervision.
- Bonus if you have experience with APIs as a developer
