SUMMARY:The Network Engineer is responsible for design, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring, and reporting of the enterprise network infrastructure of Churchill Downs Incorporated and its related properties.

- Ensure the successful and continued operation of the company's network infrastructure.
- Provide leadership and escalations for change and incident bridges.
- Investigate network issues and bring resolution within stated SLA parameters.
- Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to operations team and customers upon request.
- Provide technical leadership (both verbal and written) for incident response and change control.
- Participate in on-call rotation for incident management and escalation.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair network problems according to Service Level Agreements.
- Troubleshoot issues involving BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, static routes, multiple VRF's, STP, VTP, VLANs, switch stacking technology on gear including but not limited to NX-OS, Cisco IOS, Cisco IOS-XE, and PAN-OS.
- Monitor and report on the network infrastructure operation regularly.
- Firewall planning, maintenance, and reporting.
- Plan and execute changes to the network infrastructure.
- Network Equipment Inventory Management.
- Maintain an extensive IP Telephony network specifically responsible for the Cisco Unified Contact Center Express deployments and UCCx script writing.
- Wireless LAN configuration and maintenance.
- Gather and compile documentation and diagrams as required.
- Update and maintain network management application databases and CMDB tools.
- Proactively address business process issues regarding networks through network architecture design, development, and implementation as well as business process re-engineering
- Ensure that all organizational activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Associate's degree in Information Technology or related discipline. May consider experience and certifications for degree requirement.
- 3+ years of experience implementing / managing WAN circuits.
- 3+ years of experience using network analysis, management, and performance monitoring tools to plan for growth, diagnose problems and determine root cause.
- 3+ years of experience managing comprehensive projects in complex networking environment.
- 3+ years of experience implementing VLAN technology in an enterprise environment.
- Current CCNA or CCNP certification.
- ITIL or Six Sigma certification.
- 3+ years of experience configuring, monitoring and managing Cisco ASA Firewalls, Palo Alto Firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, and Cisco WAN/LAN switching & routing products.
- Strong knowledge of routing and switching, including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux-based platforms.
- Knowledge of VMware and virtualization technologies.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to work a 24x7 on-call rotation.
- Ability to work certain night/weekend shifts on an as-needed basis for major infrastructure changes.
- Ability to work several marquee events such as the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks.
- Effective communication skills.
- Comfortable with fast paced work environment.
- Ability to obtain racing and/or gaming licenses as required in any jurisdiction where CDI operates. The Gaming industry is highly regulated and as such demands an extensive background check to obtain a license.
