A Technical Project Manager (TPM) bridges the gap between project management and technical expertise, managing projects that require a deep understanding of technology. Key Responsibilities:

Technical Project Planning: Work with engineering and IT teams to define project scope, technical requirements, and timelines. Break down technical requirements into manageable tasks and ensure alignment with business goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate across technology and business/product to ensure seamless project execution. Translate technical language for non-technical stakeholders

Risk Management: Identify technical challenges early and work with the team to develop mitigation strategies. Ensure robust testing and validation to minimize technical risks.

Agile/Scrum Management: Often manage projects using Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum or Kanban). Lead sprint planning, daily stand-ups to keep projects on track.

Technical Troubleshooting: Step in to help resolve complex technical issues that could delay the project. Ensure technical roadblocks are removed quickly by collaborating with technical leads.

Quality Assurance: Ensure that all deliverables meet the quality standards agreed upon.

Project Documentation: Maintain detailed technical documentation and ensure that all technical requirements, changes, and deployments are recorded.

Required Skills:

Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of specific technologies or platforms (e.g., software development, cloud infrastructure, DevOps).

Project Management Tools: Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, or other project tracking systems.

Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile and Scrum frameworks, including tools like Scrum boards.

Problem-Solving: Ability to solve complex technical issues and guide teams through technical challenges.

Communication: Strong ability to translate technical concepts into layman's terms and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Time Management: Effectively manage timelines for technical deployments and ensure no project overruns.

Typical Qualifications:

Education: A degree in computer science, engineering, IT, or a related technical field.

Experience: 10+ years in project management, preferably in a technical field.

Certifications: PMP, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) are often preferred.

Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with coding languages, cloud platforms, system architecture, or other technical systems is essential depending on the industry.
