Tests middle-tier applications based developed in Java and hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud architecture using EC2, ALB, IAM, VPC, Cloud Watch, Datadog, EKS, and CDN. Develops web-based applications using SQL and Java. Promotes the test development of EKS and CDN applications using programing and scripting languages. Automates the integration of code changes from multiple contributors into a single software project using Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI/CD) practices and open-source platforms, such as Jenkins. Develops test automation frameworks in Playwright and Karate to validate web applications across different browsers and platforms. Translates business requirements into technical solutions by developing complex software applications and conducts research analysis in order to create Proof-of-Concepts (POCs). Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design across multiple teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing complex automation testing frameworks for products using Playwright and Karate.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing complex automation testing frameworks for products using Playwright and Karate.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") designing and developing complex test automation frameworks for modern desktop and web applications built in Angular and ReactJS; performing functional testing (using Chromium and Chrome Dev Tools) and automation testing (using Playwright Framework); and writing code using JavaScript and TypeScript.
- DE testing RESTful Web Services and their interactions across layers of a technology stack, using Insomnia; developing Karate automation framework for Application Programming Interface (API) automation tests, in conjunction with Object-Oriented languages (Java); and designing and developing Chaos and performance test suites for APIs using MOX and Chaos Buffet.
- DE applying Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices on software releases and automated deployments according to DevOps principles and Quality Engineering (QE) test automation frameworks, using EKS/Docker, Jenkins, and Urban Code Deploy (uDeploy).
- DE creating program level test strategy, functional, and automation planning using JIRA and JIRA Align; performing QE as a member of a Scrum team -- designing, developing, and testing stories -- according to Agile methodologies; and performing backlog refinement, retrospective, and sprint planning within a financial services environment.
