Position Description:
Leverages programming languages such as Java and expertise in test automation frameworks such as JUnit and Cucumber to promote the development of web-based applications. Uses component-based frameworks such as Angular to build scalable web applications via HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3. Builds Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) with frameworks like SOAP and REST. Establishes Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to rapidly deploy changes to customers using tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Stash, Artifactory, and Terraform. Uses Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud-computing and cloud services. Builds and supports server-side components uses REST API and backend SQL, and Stored Procedure Components.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in peer project reviews, code reviews, and design reviews.
- Leads the team in technical guidance and mentors junior team members.
- Takes business requirements and translates them into detailed designs, considers the best strategy to ensure design meets performance, security, usability, and reliability and scalability requirements.
- Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
- Develops and oversees software system tests and validation procedures, programs, and documentation.
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and testing enterprise grade, fault tolerant distributed solutions within a financial services or corporate actions setting.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and testing enterprise grade, fault tolerant distributed solutions within a financial services or corporate actions setting.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") designing and developing financial services applications using core Java and supporting Java and Java-related frameworks (Spring, SpringBoot, Spring Batch, Hibernate, and REST APIs), Junit for unit testing, and JSP or Angular for frontend development implemented on enterprise scale systems using an AWS tech stack (RDS, EC2, and S3).
- DE performing application build and deployment using Continuous Integration and Delivery tools -- Git, Maven, Jenkins, Docker, and Artifactory; and logging and monitoring systems, using Datadog and Splunk for alerting and reporting, and Cucumber for automation testing.
- DE performing Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) development against WebSphere Application Servers, and performing code versioning using GIT and BitBucket; and deploying programs on Unix/Linux and Cloud Infrastructure using Shell scripts.
- DE developing against Oracle Enterprise infrastructure, drools rules development and queue-based infrastructure using IBM MQ in support of scalable, fault tolerant Enterprise systems.
