Geologist/Environmental Scientist/Engineer Job Locations US-OH-Cincinnati Category Environmental Type Full-Time Overview As a Geologist/Environmental Scientist/Engineer for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) for our Cincinnati, Ohio office, you will be directly involved with environmental site assessment, remedial action and compliance projects. Your primary responsibilities will be completing field activities, including assisting with and leading field sampling activities for soil, groundwater, surface water and vapor intrusion, and associated reporting, including data interpretation, developing potentiometric surface maps, isoconcentration maps, and geologic cross sections. Other assessment-related efforts, depending on experience, training and licensing may include asbestos, Property Condition Assessments, oversight of tank removals, supporting various elements of multi-media environmental compliance, inspection and documentation of various mitigation activities, routine environmental monitoring, and operation and maintenance of various remedial components/systems. Additional duties may include task and project management and client interface. The individual's degree of involvement will be based upon their exposure and experience with respect to the assigned work. Role and responsibilities: Collect, analyze, and prepare raw data into workable form for project reports, plans, and other project documents; Participate in field work as assigned by project team leadership; Coordinate assigned tasks with other staff to successfully complete assignments, and Maintain and utilize working knowledge of field standards and practices. Qualifications The qualified candidate will have 2 to 5+ years of professional experience; BS Degree (MS a plus) in Environmental Science, Geology or related Engineering; Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle; Basic technical competency, and demonstrated skills in engineering/scientific judgment, mathematical-applications, general chemistry, verbal/written communications; Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently; Strong quantitative/math and analytical skills; The ability to participate in field work and basic competency with hand tools and power equipment such as generators, pumps, air compressors, and field chemistry meters; Ability to travel locally and regionally with occasional overnight stays; Core competency in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Detail oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills; Current 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred; Experience with ASTM E 1527-21 Phase I Environmental Site Assessment process; Experience with Phase II Environmental Site Assessment process; Experience with AutoCad and/or ArcGIS a PLUS; Experience with brownfields/state voluntary assessment and remediation programs a PLUS; Experience with underground storage tank removal/closure and assessment process a PLUS; Experience with task and project management a PLUS; Experience and interest with client interface and business development a PLUS; Experience with sub-slab soil gas, soil gas and indoor air sampling and vapor intrusion assessments and mitigation a PLUS; Training, experience and licensing for asbestos surveying a PLUS; Experience with with ASTM 2015-15/2424 Property Condition Assessment process a PLUS; and, Stormwater / Erosion and Sediment Control Inspection experience and/or CESSWI certification a PLUS.
