Head of Internal Medicine
Schwarzman Animal Medical Center, New York, NY, United States
The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in New York City seeks an experienced board certified (ACVIM or ECVIM) Internal Medicine specialist to lead our Internal Medicine Department and work with administration to further expand and grow AMC's internal medicine services. They will help assure excellence in postgraduate teaching and training, assist in oversight of our ACVIM internal medicine residency training program, and encourage clinical investigation. They will also ensure outstanding client experience and build relationships with AMC's veterinary community. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced veterinarian in internal medicine looking to take their career to the next level and work in a newly constructed, state-of-the-art facility. Thanks to our current expansion and renovation project, we will soon have a new, dedicated Internal Medicine suite including outpatient examination rooms, treatment rooms, and a waiting room in addition to our current dialysis and endoscopic procedure rooms.
The Internal Medicine Department includes six ACVIM diplomates in Internal Medicine, one ACVECC diplomate in the role of hospitalist, nine IM residents, as well as rotating interns, experienced licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs) and assistants, and dedicated IM service coordinators.
AMC has many clinical resources. Diagnostic imaging services are provided 7 days per week. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are available on-site. A commercial diagnostic laboratory housed within AMC provides 7-day per week service and on-site clinical pathologists.
Clinical and/or basic science research experience is preferred. Opportunities for collaborative research exist both at AMC as well as with the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical School, and NYU. AMC is actively looking to increase its research capabilities over the coming years. Additionally, experience in mentoring or teaching undergraduate or graduate veterinarians is highly desirable.
Our great team of veterinarians offer a wide range of specialties including anatomic pathology, anesthesiology, cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, exotic pet medicine, internal medicine (with dialysis), interventional radiology and endoscopy, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, radiation oncology, rehabilitation and integrative medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and surgical oncology.
