The Fabrication Shop Supervisor monitors production output, supervises staff, and ensures that products meet plant specifications and quality expectations. Responsibilities include managing inventory, ordering raw materials, increasing the efficiency of operations, and scheduling production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete daily/weekly employee time schedules.
  • Conduct breakdowns/take-offs of raw material orders.
  • Coordinate delivery and handling processes of raw materials.
  • Schedule and supervise the production of hardware needed for Company product molds.
  • Conduct weekly safety/toolbox talks among employees.
  • Assigns work to department personnel to attain department objectives using knowledge of production processes, company policies, production schedules, work orders, equipment capacity, and employee capabilities.
  • Readily perceives and effectively responds to schedules and product flows essential to supervising highly productive, cost-effective, quality-oriented manufacturing operations.
  • Recommends and initiates improvements to production processes, to increase manufacturing efficiency.
  • Establishes and controls procedures to ensure the production of conforming fabricated assembly components.
  • Monitors and controls established procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Establishes and monitors cost control systems to achieve department budget objectives.
  • Responsible for compliance with safety and housekeeping requirements.
  • Facilitates and promotes company policy and Quality Improvement programs within all department workgroups.
  • Provide training, support, direction, and guidance to department personnel.
  • Provide objective feedback for continued employee growth.
  • Recommend and administer personnel actions under company policies and procedures.
  • Set department goals and develop an outline for achievement.
  • To work overtime as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Superb experience managing fabrication activities.
  • Substantial experience working in a sales-driven environment.
  • Strong ability to oversee complex operations.
  • Ability to interrupt and analyze technical data.
  • Ability to work varying shifts.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • An understanding of inventory stages, such as Raw Material, WIP and Finished Goods.
  • Proficient in GMAW/SMAW Welding, Plasma cutting, Shears, saws and similar equipment.
  • Read and interpret weld process according to AWS and ASME section IX.
  • Ability to understand and apply workplace safety procedures.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Preferably a two or four-year college degree in a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management experience in precast/prestressed concrete or related industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction and fabrication procedures.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, twist, walk, must be able to use various hand tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance on elevated surfaces; and stoop, kneel, squat, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as work boots, hard hats, work gloves, welding hood, safety glasses, and hearing protection. This is an indoor/outdoor work environment: Exposure to sun, heat, humidity, cold, wind, light rain, sand, dust, excessive noise, welding gases, and fumes.
