About The Team
The Design Foundation team is dedicated to developing the design system, tools, and creative elements essential for TikTok Monetization products to deliver exceptional product experiences on a large scale. Comprising a diverse and highly skilled group of designers, our team assumes the responsibility of overseeing the design language, known as Keystone, for TikTok business products across all platforms, including mobile and web. Our overarching goal is to provide comprehensive support for products tailored to Advertisers, Creators, and end users, fostering business growth and the achievement of their ambitious objectives.
On a daily basis, the Design Foundation team defines and delivers components, patterns, and guidelines that contribute to the creation of delightful, trusted, and effective design elements for all TikTok Monetization products. These elements encompass visual, interaction, creative, and motion foundations, collectively contributing to the production of high-quality product experiences on a global scale.
About The Role
We are in search of a seasoned Design leader to take the helm of our Design Foundation team, overseeing both the design system and the creative design team. The design system stands as the KEYSTONE for the entire TikTok business product user experience. As a visionary leader, you will bring an entrepreneurial mentality to the forefront and exhibit the ability to make decisive actions when needed. Your expertise in setting high standards for quality, coupled with your adeptness in influencing and managing dependencies, will be integral to the success of the team.
In this role, you will be proficient in collecting data through research and will collaborate closely with content, engineering, and the product design team. Your goal will be to drive the application of the design system, ensuring its usability, stability, and likability.
As the senior leader of the team, you will:
- Drive the creation of a robust design system vision for a key organization. Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to craft a narrative that inspires creativity, unlocks full potential, and significantly contributes to TikTok Monetization Products.
- Foster a workplace culture aligned with TikTok's core values, inspiring creativity and joy while leading a team of global talents.
- Be a strategic design leader, strong at uniting teams to address complex challenges and deliver creative work of high quality. Take a pivotal role in defining the strategic direction of our design systems work (KEYSTONE), with a specific focus on impacting the Ads product ecosystem. Lead the way in making influential and standardized design decisions within systems to generate a broad and meaningful impact across various platforms.
- Lead with an unwavering focus on user satisfaction, guiding the team to deliver a strong user experience.
Strategically use user research and data insights to enhance quality and innovation in design across all products.
- Foster collaboration with design systems engineering team to ensure seamless alignment and high quality between the product design team and their engineering counterparts.
- Contribute significantly as a key member of the Product Design Leadership team, playing a crucial role in elevating the overall design team. Take ownership of the operating structure and team culture.
- Be a mentor at heart, ready to share and support senior or mid-level designers. Mentor the team with compassion, oversee talent acquisition and development, and bring out their best work. Offer guidance and constructive feedback to designers, facilitating both project improvement and career growth opportunities.
- Facilitate projects, allocate resources, and foster consensus among stakeholders across time zones.
- Recruit exceptional individuals to build a strong team capable of propelling TikTok Monetization Design Foundation team to new heights of excellence.

- Over 12 years of relevant experience in design, including a minimum of 5 years in a management capacity.
- Proven expertise in recruiting, nurturing, and leading a global design system and creative team.
- Demonstrated experience in building, developing, and delivering large-scale projects involving multiple teams.
- Proficiency in applying design systems to enterprise design.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, people management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to articulate intricate interaction concepts to diverse audiences across various organizational levels. Demonstrated success in presenting to and influencing stakeholders, spanning from fellow design leaders to senior executive management.
- Commit to high-quality, meticulously crafted visual design with a keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling successful collaboration with teams across the organization, including Engineering, Product Management, and Senior Leadership.
