About the Team
The GMPT Design Systems team is dedicated to developing a robust and industry-leading design system, elevating the design quality and productivity for TikTok Monetization products, which makes delivering exceptional product experiences on a large scale possible. Comprising a diverse and highly skilled group of designers, our team assumes the responsibility of overseeing the Design System, known as Keystone, for TikTok business products across all platforms, including mobile and web. Our overarching goal is to provide comprehensive support for products tailored to Advertisers, Creators, and end users, fostering business growth and the achievement of their ambitious objectives.
On a daily basis, the Design System team defines and delivers color, typography, icons and illustrations, components, patterns, and guidelines that contribute to the creation of delightful, trusted, and effective design elements for all TikTok Monetization products. These elements encompass visual, interaction, creative, and motion foundations, collectively contributing to the production of high-quality product experiences on a global scale. We also ensure the Design System is used effectively for optimal results by hosting education sessions, ByteLearning courses, and offering ongoing support and guidance to our designers.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead the creation and evolution of a robust and scalable Design System foundational elements and visual strategy including color, typography, dimension, grid and layout that scales across TikTok's various monetization products.
- Drive the application of visual strategy across all Design System elements and the suite of Tiktok business products.
- Collaborate with a group of passionate Design System designers to build and evolve an industry-leading Design Systems.
- Host education sessions, and provide ongoing support and guidance to our designers in effectively using Design Systems.
- Create prototypes and specifications that effectively communicate design requirements to cross-functional teams.
- Leverage data insights and research to iterate and refine the system, driving key business metrics and optimizing user impact.
- Influence and enhance visual design quality and proficiency across an organization of 100+ designers. Foster a culture of system thinking, advocating for best practices and quality in design.
- Contribute system thinking skills across various departments, including business, research, engineering, content, marketing, etc. Build strong partnerships that align stakeholders and ensure cohesive output.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to incorporate innovative approaches into Design Systems.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience creating a design system from scratch.
- Experience applying design systems to complex B2B products.
- Strong knowledge and experience of color theory and ability to develop and implement scalable color systems and token strategy that align with business objectives.
- Profound knowledge and industry experience in all aspects of Design Systems, including its design principles, processes and lifecycle.
- Proficient in using data and research to guide design evolution and enhance user experience.
- Proficient in structuring global tokens and assets in Figma.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex visual concepts to stakeholders of varying expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in branding and visual design, or design systems for complex products.
- In-depth understanding of emerging trends in design, UI/UX best practices, and technological advancements that impact design system strategies.
- Self-motivated and able to efficiently run a project without close supervision
- Passion for TikTok's mission and values, with the ability to align brand design with company goals.
