We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual with expertise in the design and characterization of electronics operating in diverse (including extreme) environments. The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented individual with a strong background in electrical engineering, or a related area. The individual will support research and development of electronic circuits and systems based on different semiconductor material systems, technology scaling nodes, circuit topologies, and system design techniques.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and apply analytical and behavioral modeling techniques to analyze circuit/system level performance.
• Support the planning, set up, and operation of CFD Research's labs for electrical characterization of analog/mixed-signal (AMS) and radio frequency (RF) circuits and/or systems.
• Plan and perform electrical and environmental testing to measure circuit and/or system level performance. Travel to external test sites including DoD and National Labs, and collaborators' facilities, will likely be required.
• Lead circuit and/or system level development tasks including design, verification, and tapeout.
• Actively collaborate with other researchers working on first-principles modeling and fundamental measurements of physical effects in semiconductors and electromagnetic effects.
• Document technical activities and findings in reports and publications.
• Contribute to future R&D efforts via proposal preparation.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen.
  • Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related STEM Discipline) and at least 5 years of relevant work experience in analog/mixed-signal (AMS) circuit design and analysis (an advanced degree with research is a plus and may be considered in lieu of work experience)
  • Proficiency in the use of commercial electronic design automation (EDA) software tools for circuit design and analysis (Synopsys / Cadence / Mentor Graphics / Siemens / or similar tools).
  • Experience with scripting (such as Python) and programming (such as C++/C/Fortran) languages is a plus.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Machine Learning tools and techniques.
  • Experience with AMS and RF circuit testing experience is a significant plus.
  • Experience with reliability assessment techniques for circuits and systems is a plus.
  • Experience with one or more of the following is a plus - printed-circuit-board (PCB) design and prototyping, power electronics design and testing.
