Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for the Human Resource (HR) department's daily functions, including compliance, time & attendance administration, payroll, benefits, leave, workers compensation, recruiting, training, and enforcing company policies and practices. The primary focus will be on payroll, being responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing and administration within the organization. Your primary objective will be to ensure accurate and timely disbursement of wages to employees while adhering to all relevant regulations and policies. Additionally, you will collaborate with various departments to address payroll-related inquiries and maintain comprehensive records.
Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Execute end-to-end payroll processing activities, including but not limited to calculating wages, processing deductions, and ensuring accuracy in timekeeping records.
- Compliance: Stay updated with local, state, and federal payroll regulations to ensure compliance with tax laws, wage regulations, and other statutory requirements.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate employee data in payroll systems, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and changes in compensation or benefits.
- Benefits Administration: Coordinate with HR to manage employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary deductions, ensuring accurate deductions and contributions.
- Timekeeping: Oversee time and attendance systems to accurately record employee work hours, including overtime, vacation time, sick leave, and other absences.
- Reporting: Generate payroll reports as needed, including payroll summaries, tax reports, and compliance reports for management and regulatory purposes.
- Problem Resolution: Address payroll-related inquiries from employees, managers, and external stakeholders promptly and professionally, resolving issues effectively to ensure employee satisfaction.
- Auditing: Conduct regular audits of payroll records and processes to identify discrepancies, ensure accuracy, and mitigate risks of errors or fraud.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and streamline payroll processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance, leveraging technology and best practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Finance, and other departments to coordinate payroll-related activities, address cross-functional concerns, and support organizational objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience in payroll processing and administration, with a strong understanding of payroll principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems, such as ADP, Workday, or similar platforms.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid understanding of tax laws, wage regulations, and compliance requirements at local, state, and federal levels.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee information.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in payroll administration (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional - CPP) is a plus.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
