Description

Essential Functions:
- Collect, identify, and compile observational, spatial, and environmental data from samples of air, soil, water, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys
- Perform industrial hygiene (IH) audits, indoor air quality (IAQ) investigations, and noise assessments
- Perform surveys on asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM), lead-based paints (LBP), and water-damaged facilities
- Perform asbestos abatement and fiber release assessments
- Perform environmental investigations and sampling
- Conduct environmental assessments
- Develop reports related to assessments and investigations; and
- Support Industrial Hygiene, Health & Safety, and Environmental project needs throughout the U.S.
- Meet with regulatory and or permit agencies for guidance on requirements or discuss specific permits conditions or cases
- Conduct ACM/LBP testing for abatement and demolition permits
- Develop necessary permit backup documentation, including applicable environmental documents
- Prepare and submit required demolition permits in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
- Follow-up with regulatory agencies to ensure timely issuance of permits
Required Qualifications:
- Prior consulting experience and working with clients having a united work force environment with an understanding of the work activities with an involvement in occupational safety and health, asbestos/lead-based paint, IAQ, and other health and safety, and emergency response and preparedness projects
- Experience conducting site assessments as they relate to potential environmental impacts
- Perform health and safety assessment and reviews or audits
- Requires 20% travel, including the potential for overnight trips
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proposal writing and cost estimating experience
- Knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
- Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience
- Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies
- Moderate proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most effective manner to accomplish objectives of assigned projects
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies; and
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Qualifications
Education/Experience Minimum:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or equivalent
- 15 to 20 years of relevant general occupational safety and health/industrial hygiene experience including the performance of industrial hygiene (IH) surveys & audits; indoor air quality (IAQ) and noise assessments; asbestos-containing building material (ACBM), lead-based paint (LBP) and mold surveys and investigations; asbestos abatement and fiber release assessments; environmental investigations, conduct environmental sampling of soil and groundwater, EH&S/occupational safety training; and/or medical monitoring program oversight
