This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the most respected public accounting firms in the country. Our industry niches include manufacturing/distribution, real estate, construction, technology, transportation, private equity, financial services, staffing and professional service firms.Tax Directors are responsible for (but not limited to):Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations at all levels of complexityEnsuring all federal and state income tax returns are prepared timely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable lawsDelegates and manages tax research projects to achieve an accurate and efficient productParticipates actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts to assist the Business Assurance Department with larger clientsActs as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and Business Assurance Staff on specific tax issues and/or questionsAssumes client service responsibility for clients working directly with the clients when the responsibility is delegated from the PartnerCommunicates to the appropriate firm personnel important tax and tax developments affecting the firms clientsSupervises tax team and provides on the job trainingAssists the Business Assurance (Audit) Department with larger clients when deemed necessaryRequirementsThe successful candidate will have the following experience and attributes:Current CPA license is required8 years experience in public accounting, demonstrating proven progression in tax return complexity, scope and researchAt least 2 (two) years representing clients before taxing authoritiesMinimum of 1 (one) year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparersBachelors degree in accounting or equivalent accounting hours required. Masters degree in Taxation preferredMinimum 40 hours of continuing education is required yearlyMust be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAsProficiency with CCH ProSystem fx Tax or other tax automation / workflow software is a plus preferredClient service orientedTeam playerCreative problem-solving skillsIndependentExceptional written and verbal communication skillsWhat We Can Offer YouWe are dedicated to the well-being of our employees and are proud to be consistently recognized as one of Atlanta's Best Places to Work.
