Lead Electrical Assembler

The Electrical Assembly Lead provides lead supervision in the oversight of all the activities of the assembly department and performs specialized duties involving the assembly of capital equipment by design of Viking product to meet customer specifications. This position is required to maintain a certain level of productivity regarding direct labor as well as managing the workflow of the department.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all activities within the assembly department
  • Coordinate the training of all assemblers to meet the specification of Viking's assembly prints
  • Maintain the workflow within the assembly department to align with shipping deadlines, communicating any roadblocks or issues with support groups and other departments
  • Ensure all employees within the assembly department follow the safety requirements of the job along with having a proactive approach to preventing injuries
  • Communicate and own Efficiency and Utilization metrics within the assembly department addressing employee performance both positive and negative to drive results
  • Maintain a positive work environment
  • Assist engineering with prints and documentation entering ECR's as needed to drive improvement
  • Address inventory discrepancies through communication/ RIFA entries
  • Maintain and drive 5s initiatives within the assembly department ensuring a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Inspect completed work within department to ensure a high standard of quality aligned with customer expectations
  • Maintain and assist in ensuring accurate labor time entries within the assembly department
  • Identify non-conformities and follow the reporting process of said material
  • This position may also be asked to cross train in other areas as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience

  • Four years' experience; combination of schooling and work experience in related field
  • Must be able to read assembly blueprints/schematics
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and have a positive attitude
  • Be able to work with limited supervision
  • Capable of operating forklift, along with various other shop tools
  • Have basic problem-solving techniques and troubleshooting; as related to welding component parts not straight, straighten

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly working around live voltage wiring. The noise level in the manufacturing area is moderate to loud.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Location

This is a full-time non-exempt position. Schedule is standard business hours. The position is based in Viking's main office location.
