Description
Control Department Electrical Assembler
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform wiring and assembly operations on a diversified line of controls, etc. for control panels and mechanical assemblies containing fairly complex circuits.
• Plan and lay out work having variations in standard procedures when required.
• Install all types of controls and apparatus.
Cut, form and connect wiring in accordance with specifications utilizing available space for best workmanship and results.
• Work includes testing of components that will be utilized in the application
• May assist with or perform testing operations on units and completed assemblies
• Work from wiring diagrams, specifications and job layouts; use a variety of electrical testing and gauging devices and equipment.
JOB DUTIES/TASKS:
• Layout, Fabrication and assembly
• Acquire of specialty materials for the assemblies as needed
• Maintenance of shop area & equipment
• Testing of completed products
• Electrical wiring and related functions
• Forklift experience is desired but not required
• Welding, piping and other mechanical functions, desired but not required
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Complete and accurate assemblies per the job design requirements
• Responsible for Quality Control insuring that all assemblies comply with company set standards prior to shipment
• Ensures that all literature packets are in place with the shipment
• Maintain a safe work environment
• Ensure that all marked up assembly drawings are updated before shipping
• Ensure that all documentation and ship loose components are included with each shipment
• Maintain accurate hours of all shop labor, (including start times, lunches, breaks, end times and overtime)
• Complete assemblies within the hours allotted as provided by the Production Manager.
• Maintain accurate documentation of the hours required to complete work orders.
• Participate in job meetings prior to manufacturing
AUTHORITY:
• Procures components required from internal stock for production needs.
REPORTING:
To Control Department Manager and Production Manager:
• Report production problems, (scheduling, personnel, design, delivery, etc.)
• Report staffing needs to the Control Department Manager
• Provide notification of deviations of actual hours required vs. the estimated hours for production to complete a project.
• Report drawings discrepancies prior to shipment, (shipments require updated drawing to customers).
• Report rework reasons, (shop mistakes, engineering, other).
• Violations of company policies
• Procedural problems
To Accounting:
• Employee time sheets
• Shipping information, (weights, dimensions, quantity, etc.)
STANDARDS:
This is the measurement which indicates that the employee is performing their job well.
• Produces work with zero defects
• Completes orders in a timely manner and within budgeted hours
• Produces minimal rework due to shop errors.
• Works with a high standard of efficiency, (errors, costs, accuracy, proficiency)
OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION:

• Maintain a friendly, safe and efficient work environment
• Contribute to the improvement of the manufacturing process
• Reduce production costs by maximizing the effectiveness of the manufacturing process
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
These are the skills required to do the job properly.
• The job typically requires 2+ years of experience
• Requires skill, technique and experience plus a knowledge of basic design and electrical principles.
• Requires production scheduling and planning experience
• Requires the ability to verify the functionality of the final assemblies for proper operation relative to the customer process requirements.
• Be knowledgeable in the proper operation of all shop tools
• Must possess strong communication skills, both written & verbal
• Must be able to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
• Must be willing to assist in non-electrical assembly as required
• Operating a company vehicle requires a valid driver's license
Required computer software knowledge:
• Microsoft Office programs (specifically Word, Internet Explorer and Excel).
• Must be able to download production pictures from a digital camera to the company server
